FK UNS Student Won Second Place in National Poster Competition

UNS — Students of the Faculty of Medical Science (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta won second place in a national poster competition. These students are Anggun Pulihana Wilujeng, Kresnantyo Adi Nugroho, and Muhammad Faris Akbar from Medical Program. The competition was conducted online by Medical Research and Science Club (MARS) Faculty of Medicine and Medical Science Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY).

Anggun Pulihana Wilujeng admitted that she is delighted with the result of the competition.

“Alhamdulillah I am happy because during the pandemic I can be a productive student. Hopefully, this achievement will become an encouragement for us to continue to participate in competitions on other occasions and encourage friends to join the competition,” she stated in an interview with uns.ac.id, Wednesday (12/8/2020).

The poster design prepared by Anggun and her team in the competition is concerned with osteoporosis, an illness marked with reduced bone mass so that bones become porous and break easily. The sixth-semester student explained that the use of KALSIUM as abbreviation aimed to facilitate readers in remembering how to prevent osteoporosis.

“KALSIUM is an abbreviation of makanan kaya Kalsium, Asupan kaya vitamin D diperbanyak, Luangkan waktu untuk olahraga rutin, Stop merokok dan minum alkohol, Ingat untuk berjemur di pagi hari, Usahakan tidak konsumsi produk tinggi kafein, dan Melakukan tes dini osteoporosis saat menopause (increase the consumption of calcium-rich foods, food with vitamin D, make time to exercise routinely, stop smoking and alcohol consumption, sun bathing, avoid caffeinated products, and early test for osteoporosis),” she explained.

The competition with title ‘Medical Djogja Scientific Competition’ (MEDJONSON) runs from December 2019 through several stages starting from registration, voting poster, submission of presentation videos, and announcement on 10 July through Instagram account @medjonson_mars. Anggun hopes that through this achievement, she can continue to work as a provision for her future. Humas UNS
