UNS — The Directorate-General (Dirjen) of Higher Education (Dikti) Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) RI, Prof. Nizam visited the Center for Business Development (Pusbangnis) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Thursday afternoon (18/2/2021).
Prof. Nizam and his entourage visit were welcomed by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Ahmad Yunus, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Affairs UNS, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo, Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS, Prof. Sajidan, and the Head of Public Relations and Media Unit UNS, Dr. Deddy Whinata Kardiyanto.
Prof. Nizam witnessed lithium battery production in the Lithium Battery Production Unit UNS and received an explanation on the research, development, and production process from UNS senior researcher, Prof. Agus Purwanto. As reported from dikti.go.id, Prof. Agus Purwanto explained that Indonesia has excellent resources for cathode and anode production that hold a vital role in lithium battery production. He also stated that UNS had created a battery for bicycle, motorcycle, and electric car after granted the National Electric Car (Molina) project in 2012.
In his visit, Prof. Nizam stated that lithium battery is a vital component in developing environmentally-friendly transportation modes. Therefore, he appreciated UNS in developing lithium batteries in Indonesia. He added that UNS need to introduce their lithium battery to industrial investors. “Kemendikbud provides Kedaireka platform to introduce university’s products to them (industry). There is also a Matching Fund that can be used as supporting funds in developing inventions. You are welcomed to access and use these facilities,” Prof. Nizam said.
Prof. Nizam also saw the conversion process from conventional bicycle to electric bicycle and tried the final conversion product from UNS students. The bicycle tried by Prof. Nizam has been used by UNS to support environmentally friendly transportation and the first Friday of each month to support “Free Emission Day” in UNS Ketingan Campus.
