Visiting UNS Hospital, Minister of PMK Praises UNS Health Products and Innovations

UNS — The Coordinating Minister of Human Resource Development and Culture (Menko PMK) RI, Prof. Muhadjir Effendy, praises the health products and innovation developed by the lecturers and researchers from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. This compliment was expressed by Prof. Muhadjir during a working visit along with an entourage of Kemenko PMK RI to UNS Hospital (RS UNS), Friday (19/2/2021).

The health products reviewed by Prof. Muhadjir are KUR-CO Smart (Curcumin and VCO), KURKUM-Pro (Curcumin and Gingerol), Plasmapheresis therapy, ICU Ventilator, Bag valve mask (Ambu bag/manual resuscitator), Suns Proque, Kit Konverso Elektrik, and High Flow Nasal Cannula.

“I highly appreciate the innovations made by UNS lecturers. These are monumental works. This means UNS managed to take positive advantage from the Covid-19 outbreak,” Prof. Muhadjir states.

During the observation, Prof. Muhadjir tries the Kit Konverso Elektrik, an electric wheelchair with a multipurpose steering wheel made by the Diploma Program in Mechanical Engineering, Vocational School UNS. “The electric wheelchair (t/n: Kit Konverso Elektrik), I have tried and it is comfy. I suggest using the battery for the marketed product, thus it can be easily replaced when distributed to various regions,” Prof. Muhadjir explains.

Accompanied by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, UNS Hospital Director, Prof. Hartono, Spokesperson for UNS Hospital Covid-19 Task Force, Tonang PhD., and Special Staff for Menko PMK  RI in Organization and Governance, Prof. Ravik Karsidi, Prof. Muhadjir request that UNS registers the patent rights for the herbal products KUR-CO Smart and KURKUM-Pro.

“For the Curcuma, it only needs to be distributed and do not forget that this related with patent, thus, serious safeguarding is needed. Do not let the hard work of UNS fellow lecturers disappear,” he added.

In front of the press, Prof. Muhadjir explains that his visit together with the entourage is intended to encourage lecturers and researchers in each university to conduct research and innovation. This aims to ensure that the product can be beneficial for the wider community and the Kemenko PMK RI can provide a guarantee on the national product developed by researchers and lecturers. “We are responsible to ensure that the product, indeed, can be implemented and used by the public.
