UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) proudly hosted AppliedHE Xchange 2025, an international forum on innovations in higher education, science, and technology. The event took place at InterContinental Bali on Monday (24/2/2025). Experts from around the world attended, including Dr. Berry Juliandi, M.Si. He serves as the Director of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) at the Directorate General of Higher Education.

The Role of Higher Education in National Development

Dr. Berry shared his remarks on the main session, “Advancing Higher Education, Science & Technology for a Future Ready Nation.” He highlighted the crucial role of higher education in preparing future generations for a rapidly evolving global landscape. He also emphasized that collaboration between education, research, and technology is essential for national progress.

“Higher education must be the hub for knowledge creation and dissemination, aligned with contemporary needs. By embracing cutting-edge technology and fostering cross-sector collaboration, we can drive impactful innovations,” Dr. Berry stated.

Higher Education and Global Partnerships

Dr. Berry underscored the strong connection between higher education and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17. It focuses on global partnerships for sustainable development. He stressed the need for universities, industries, governments, and international institutions to collaborate. They must work together to address global challenges like climate change, economic disparity, and digital transformation.

“Strategic partnerships, as outlined in SDG 17, help us optimize resources and accelerate innovation. They also ensure inclusive, high-quality education for all,” he added.

UNS Strengthens International Cooperation

Dr. Apt. Rita Rakhmawati, S.Farm., M.Si., leads the International Cooperation and Internationalization Program Development Section at UNS. She reaffirmed the university’s commitment to expanding global collaboration.

“Through events like AppliedHE Xchange 2025, we aim to create a platform for international partnerships. These collaborations enrich our students’ and faculty’s perspectives,” Dr. Rita said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Dona Budi Kharisma, S.H., M.H., leads the UNS Cooperation Sub-Directorate. He highlighted UNS’s ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with international educational institutions and industries.

“We believe these collaborations allow UNS to contribute significantly to advancing higher education in Indonesia,” Dr. Dona stated.
