UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta demonstrated its presence in the international academic forum through research contributions in the field of education. Taufik Hidayat, a Master’s (S-2) student of Educational Technology at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNS, studied 21st-century educational quality management through the integration of digital technology at an international conference held in Japan.
Taufik presented his research after being selected as an Oral Presenter at the 7th International Conference on Modern Educational Technology (ICMET) 2025, held at Kyushu University, one of Japan’s Seven Imperial Universities, on 18–20 December 2025. ICMET 2025 is a prestigious international conference organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), bringing together educational technology researchers from various countries.
At this conference, only 49 oral presenters were selected from universities across 15 countries and regions after undergoing a double-blind review process. These countries and regions included Indonesia, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Australia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
Taufik, who is also a recipient of the Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan (LPDP) scholarship, explained that his research focuses on how digital transformation can be strategically used to improve educational quality amid global dynamics and challenges.
In his study, Taufik used the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with PRISMA guidelines on reputable scientific articles sourced from the Scopus database. From 3,038 articles reviewed, the research identified several key strategies, including the development of e-learning quality standards, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for personalized learning, strengthening online quality assurance systems, and designing a Smart Education Index (SEI) as a tool to measure the digital readiness of educational institutions.

“The integration of digital technology in education should not only focus on providing devices. Digital transformation will create real impact when it is designed in line with quality management systems, institutional governance, and sustainable pedagogical innovation,” Taufik told uns.ac.id on Thursday (15/1/2026).
At the conference, Taufik presented his research in the PS06 session: Innovation, Quality, and Security in Digital Higher Education, chaired by Assistant Professor António Maneira from the University of Saint Joseph. The session was also attended by researchers and senior lecturers from the United States, the Philippines, Qatar, and Taiwan. This achievement became even more meaningful as Taufik’s research article has been scheduled for publication in IEEE Xplore, an internationally reputable proceeding indexed by Scopus.
This accomplishment highlights the contribution of UNS students in developing technology-based educational research that supports sustainable quality education (SDG 4: Quality Education).
Through active participation in this international scientific forum, UNS once again reaffirmed its commitment to encouraging students to produce high-quality research relevant to the challenges of 21st-century education, while also strengthening the role of LPDP scholarship recipients as agents of change in education and technological innovation.
