UNS – Student of the Law Science Program Faculty of Law (FH) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Zakky Musthofa Zuhad, initiates the establishment of Tasik Fights Corona Movement (Gerakan Tasik Lawan Corona) as a form of his concerns on Tasikmalaya people impacted by Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
Contacted by uns.ac.id, Zakky stated that during its establishment, the movement recruited 8 volunteers and now the movement has 64 volunteers. “Tasik Fights Corona Movement started on 9 April 2020, at the time with 8 volunteers. Our first activity is to educate the community on Covid-19. This movement attracts people who later joined with Gerakan Tasik Lawan Corona and made this movement into more massive. They are students from UNS, ITB, UPI IPB, Unsoed, Unsil, STKS, STAN, and other universities. Some are working and come from Tasik,” Zakky stated contacted through short message service, Monday (15/6/2020).
Zakky as the Vice President of Student Executive Board (Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa – BEM) UNS also explained that the movement born from his restlessness from seeing Tasikmalaya people being uneducated about Covid-19, playing down the danger of Covid-19 spread, and the number of Tasikmalaya people who are economically impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Every weekend, Zakky and other fellow volunteers routinely perform the #turuntangan action by providing education on the danger of Covid-19 and providing masks, hand sanitizer, and at least 50 basic foods package every week. The aids provided by Gerakan Tasik Lawan Corona is the result of donation collected from the community. “We collected donations from the community. Thus, it was an open donation and we also proposed this movement to companies. One of our actions is the Gerakan ‘Challenge Serbu’ or Sepuluh Ribu. In total there were 320 basic foods packages, 600 masks, and 100 bottles of hand sanitizer distributed to the community,” Zakky continued.
In addition to increasing Tasikmalaya community awareness on the danger of Covid-19, Zakky expects that Gerakan Tasik Lawan Corona can be a place for Tasikmalaya youth to contribute to society during the Covid-19 pandemic. Further, Zakky adds that to this time nine sub-districts in Tasikmalaya have received attention from Gerakan Tasik Lawan Corona. “We have reached at least nine sub-districts in Tasikmalaya, such as Cihideung, Cibeureum, Purbaratu, Kawalu, Tawang, Tamansari, Mangkubumi, Sukahening (District), Rajapolah (District),” Zakky stated.
By keeping good coordination with the National Agency for Regional Disaster Management (Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Daerah – BNPD) Tasikmalaya and other stakeholders to ensure that the aids are distributed to the right people. Zakky admitted that he is happy to get support from his parents. He also hopes that the movement that he initiates can help Tasikmalaya people’s economy in this hard time.
“We planned this movement until Tasik recovers from Covid-19 and the community’s economy gets better. Probably at the end of June. We expect that this movement will educate Tasikmalaya people in understanding Covid-19 and help people’s economy,” he stated. Humas UNS/Yefta/Dwi
