UNS — Besides healthcare issues, social and humanities development at the local government level also need to be discussed and solved amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Realizing the importance of this issue, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta conducted a discussion and signing of the Agreement of Partnership with five local government institutions.
In the event held on Monday (8/3/2021), FISIP UNS establish a partnership with five local government institutions: Development Planning, Research, and Development Agency (Bappeda) Central Java, Planning, Research, and Development Agency (Baperlitda) Temanggung District, Local Government Secretary of Karanganyar District, Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) Magelang City, and Planning, Research, and Development Agency (Bappeda) of Surakarta City.
The Dean of FISIP UNS, Prof. Dr. Ismi Dwi Astuti Nurhaeni, M.Si. leads the signing ceremony through a virtual meeting using the Zoom Cloud Meeting platform. “Hopefully, through this meeting, we can identify the issues in local government, and we (can develop) a collaboration among university students, faculty members, and other academic members to solve these issues,” she stated.
The Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. rer.nat. Sajidan, M.Si. stated that he highly hopes that this collaboration can be implemented well and involve students in the process. “We hope that besides research and community services, students can be involved in the government institutions or other national and international institutions. Thus, we can improve our graduates’ competencies in the future in line with the Kampus Merdeka, Merdeka Belajar program,” Prof. Sajidan said in his remark.
The event received warm appreciation from five institutions involved in the project. The Central Java Bappeda Secretary, Drs. Juwandi, M.Si. stated that this kind of event provides exciting potential for Bappeda to identify the community’s real problems.
“We are grateful for this collaboration and hope that it can be implemented and has a follow-up,” Drs. Juwandi, M.Si. added.
The signing ceremony was followed by a public discussion on “Social and Humanities Development Issues at the Local Government Level: Opportunities and Challenges”. Five speakers with expertise in this field were invited to deliver the materials. The invited speakers also hold an award for the Best Planning at provincial and national levels.
