UNS — Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held another International Conference on Social and Political Sciences (ICOSAPS) on Wednesday (7/10/2020). This event was held continuously as one of FISIP UNS internationalization program in supporting UNS toward “World Class University”. In this 6th occasion, the theme of the conference is “Strengthening Resilient Society in The Disruptive Era”.
For two days the conference was held virtually through Zoom Clouds Meeting and Live Stream in ICOSAPS UNS YouTube channel. ICOSAPS 2020 can be divided into two sessions, the main session and parallel session. The main session was delivered by four speakers, Prof. Dr. Normah Mustaffa from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Dr. Azhar Ibrahim Alwee from the National University of Singapore, Prof. Svetlana Bodrunova from St. Petersburg State University Russia and Prof. Dr. Ismi Dwi Astuti Nurhaeni, M.Si from Universitas Sebelas Maret.
The Rector of UNS. Prof. Jamal Wiwoho appreciated the international conference amid the pandemic. He hopes that this event can encourage the birth of thoughts and ideas that will be beneficial for the community. “Hopefully The 6th International Conference on Social and Political Sciences (ICOSAPS) 2020, can proceed successfully to produce various smart and critical thoughts and views as one of our contributions to the nation and state of Indonesia in facing disruption,” Prof. Jamal stated.
In line with Prof. Jamal remark, the Dean of FISIP UNS, Prof. Ismi Dwi Astuti Nurhaeni conveyed that that previously ICOSAPS has been conducted five times and have published nationally and internationally accredited proceeding and journals. On this occasion, Dr. Andre Rahmanto as the Chairman of the Committee reported that this year, ICOSAPS 2020 received 361 abstracts from participants with a diverse background such as researcher, university teacher, practitioner, and university students. The themes of submitted articles are in politic, culture, gender, communication media, tourism, globalization, and community network. Dr. Andre also explained that the managing committee of ICOSAPS 2020 established a collaboration with Atlantis Press, two Copus indexed journals, and seven National Journals with one journal accredited by SINTA-RistekBRIN of the Republic of Indonesia.
