UNS — The Sociology Study Program of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta received a visit from the University of Passau, Germany. The visit took place on Wednesday (3/13/2024).
The delegation from the University of Passau, Germany was led by Assistant Professor of the Critical Development Studies Program, Dr. Friederike, and accompanied by Indonesian Language Lecturer, Kartika Afrodite Wulang. They were warmly welcomed by the Dean of FISIP UNS, Prof. Dr. Ismi Dwi Astuti Nurhaeni, M.Si., along with the Head of the Sociology Study Program at FISIP UNS, Dr. Argyo Demartoto, M.Si.
The Dean of FISIP UNS, Prof. Dr. Ismi Dwi Astuti Nurhaeni, M.Si., delivered the opening remarks for the talk show. On this occasion, Prof. Ismi warmly welcomed the visit from 24 students from the University of Passau who will be working on group projects related to various urbanism topics in Solo City. The 24 students come from three majors, including International Cultural and Business Studies, Journalism and Strategic Communications, and Media and Communications.
During the talk show, four speakers took the stage, including the Head of the Sociology Master’s Program at FISIP UNS, Dr. Trisni Utami, M.Si.; the Chairperson of SIBAT PMI Kampung Sewu, Sri Mahanani Budi Utomo; Sociology Lecturer at FISIP UNS, Dr. Drajat Tri Kartono, M.Si., and the Team from Green Campus UNS, Prof. Dr. Drs. Pranoto, M.Sc.
“The visit by the University of Passau aims to deepen knowledge and understanding of Solo City, especially in the context of social change and the Bank Sampah (Waste Bank) initiative at UNS,” Prof. Ismi explained.
After the talk show, the event continued with a visit to the Bank Sampah UNS located at the Faculty of Agriculture (FP), accompanied by Prof. Dr. Ir. Margaretha Maria Alacoque Retno Rosariastuti.
The visit to Indonesia is a biennial routine activity organized by the Critical Development Studies Program at the University of Passau, Germany under the direction of Prof. Martina Padmanabhan. It is hoped that in the future, the University of Passau and UNS can further collaborate in various fields of higher education Tri Dharma. HUMAS UNS
