UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a gathering and Halal Bi Halal event for Eid al-Fitr 1445 H on Tuesday (16/4/2024) at the G.P.H Haryo Mataram Auditorium. The event adopted the theme “Accelerating UNS as a World Class University through the Spirit of Gathering”. The gathering and Halal Bi Halal event also invited KH. Ahmad Said Asrori from the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) as the preacher, and was attended by Acting Rector Dr. Chatarina Muliana, S.H., S.E., M.H., along with the entire academic community of UNS.
In her remarks, Dr. Chatarina stated that this gathering is an opportunity to strengthen the bonds of the UNS extended family.
“Gathering is not just a tradition, but an expression of togetherness and solidarity in strengthening the bonds of brotherhood as the extended family of UNS,” Dr. Chatarina explained.
Dr. Chatarina also mentioned that Eid al-Fitr is a moment to mend relationships with others and to improve oneself.
“Eid al-Fitr is to celebrate spiritual victory, and also as a moment to improve relationships with others and strive to become better individuals, especially in fulfilling our duty to enhance the quality of higher education,” she added.
Regarding the theme, Dr. Chatarina also urged the UNS extended family to continue moving forward and transforming education.
“Let us improve performance with enthusiasm, engage in transformation involving all aspects of campus life, and realize quality higher education, innovative and beneficial research, and impactful services,” she continued.
The event then proceeded with the delivery of wisdom from Halal Bi Halal by KH. Ahmad Said Asrori. He stated that Halal Bi Halal is a culture unique to Indonesia and turns it into a moment where everyone receives blessings in the month of Ramadan.
“During the Halal Bi Halal moment, everyone becomes generous and receives blessings, and it also becomes a means to bring distant people closer,” KH. Asrori explained.
KH. Asrori also conveyed three signs that indicate someone is moving towards perfect faith, namely being conscious, spreading peace, and being willing to give charity. In conclusion, KH. Asrori reminded everyone to spread peace to anyone.
“Let us not cause harm to the earth. Let us spread peace and safety to everyone indiscriminately. Everyone is a creature of Allah SWT. Our duty as Muslims is to do good to everyone,” he concluded.
The gathering and Halal Bi Halal event then concluded with everyone shaking hands. HUMAS UNS
