UNS — The Faculty of Medicine (FK) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a Halal Bi Halal celebration for Eid al-Fitr 1445 H at the FK UNS Auditorium on Wednesday (17/4/2024). The theme of the event was “Halal Bi Halal, the Necessity of Creativity.” The event was attended by the Acting Rector of UNS, Dr. Chatarina Muliana, S.H., S.E., M.H; the Acting Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S.; the Chair of the UNS Academic Senate, Prof. Dr. Sri Sulistyowati, dr., Sp.OG (K); the FK UNS Dean’s Office, and all FK UNS academic community members.
The event began with a recitation of the Holy Quran by dr. Mohamad Rif’an Maulana, a student of the Pediatric Specialist Education Program at FK UNS and winner of 1st place in the Medical Quran Festival competition at FK UNS in 2023.
In her speech, Dr. Chatarina conveyed that Eid al-Fitr is a moment of positive change.
“After a month of fasting, restraining our worldly desires, and getting closer to God, it will certainly provide spiritual reinforcement for us, give us faith that the Almighty is truly good to all of us,” she explained.
Therefore, Dr. Chatarina hoped for a strong commitment and endeavor to become better individuals than the previous year as a form of gratitude for all that God has given.
“Because life is an opportunity given by God for us to become better human beings. My hope for this halalbihalal moment is for us to reflect together on how we can further improve our service to the community, as well as to the nation and state,” she said.
The event continued with a sermon delivered by the Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K)., FISR. He conveyed that halalbihalal is a form of human creativity in terms of culture and is unique to Indonesia.
“Indeed, the phrase halalbihalal sounds like Arabic, but in the culture of Arab countries, halalbihalal does not exist. There are many concepts circulating about the origin of halalbihalal, but the most famous one is the concept by KH. Abdul Wahab Hasbullah,” Prof. Reviono said.
Furthermore, it was explained that the halalbihalal moment is an opportunity for all FK UNS academic community members to forgive each other.
“When Eid al-Fitr arrives, we are like newborn babies, free from sin and in a state of purity. However, being free from sin is about our sins toward God. Regarding our sins towards fellow human beings, we must ask for forgiveness and forgive each other,” he explained.
Prof. Reviono conveyed that according to KH. Abdul Wahab Hasbullah, as educators, they must care about all the problems around them.
“As educators, we must be able to create problem-solving concepts. An educator must be not only creative and caring about the problems around them, but also competent. I hope that here, fellow lecturers, with the assistance of educational staff, can be competent in carrying out their duties,” he said.
In conclusion, Prof. Reviono hoped that all FK UNS academic community members would seize the current momentum to work together to enhance creativity and competence so that the quality of FK UNS would improve even further in the future.
During this event, FK UNS also expressed appreciation for academic community members who have recently retired or been transferred to other units outside FK UNS. The halalbihalal event was concluded with handshakes. Humas UNS
