UNS – Another achievement is accomplished by students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, in National Scientific Writing Competition (LKTIN) hosted by Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) on Friday (10/7/2020). During the competition, titled LKTIN IDEA # 3, UNS students won third place.
The UNS team consists of Suci Nur Cahyani, Adha Nisfatulsanah, and Alysa Nur Chasanah Alam Majid from Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNS. Under the supervision of Dr. Bowo Sugiharto, M.Pd., as the Head of the Master in Biology Study Program, the team succeeded in establishing scientific writing entitled ‘Development of Education Game SiGN for Biology Subject in Metabolism for 12th Grade’.
Preparing their writing, Suci and her teammates try to find Biology material that considered abstract and requires learning media, thus the material is easily visualized. “Incidentally, the three of us majored in Biology Education. Incidentally, there is a learning media contest. We together with the lecturer try to look for material that is indeed considered abstract and requires a medium so that the material is easy to visualize, well the material is material about metabolism,” explains Suci, when contacted by uns.ac.id, Tuesday (28/7/2020).
In developing the game-based learning media, Suci and her friends also involving their peers at Informatics Study Program UNS to understand coding. “Incidentally, in this LKTI we must develop an application. We still need help from our friends from Informatics UNS because in Biology Education Study Program we do not learn coding. Thus, we only prepare the material concept, application flowchart, designs in the application, and validating the media to be suitable for use in high school,” explains Suci.
The competition is held online through Zoom Meeting. The team has to demonstrate their learning media for 5 minutes. After, they have to answer the questions from the board of jury, for approximately 15 minutes. Humas UNS
