UNS — Four student delegates from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta won funding from National Competition for Student Business Innovation (Kompetisi Inovasi Bisnis Mahasiswa – KIBM) 2020 held by the National Center for Achievement (Pusat Prestasi Nasional – Puspresnas) Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud). This achievement was announced through the Decision Letter (SK) of Puspresnas Kemendikbud dated 5 October 2020. KIBM aims to encourage the creation of creative and innovative entrepreneurs in the industrial revolution 4.0 and to build a good soft skill for participants.

The Vice-Rector for Students and Alumni Affairs UNS, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo conveyed that he is proud and appreciates the result of KIBM. He stated that students must be daring to innovate and to create something beneficial for the community. “KIBM is innovation-based business, thus it is expected to pump your adrenaline in innovating and creating. When we have ideas for innovation it will not end as something that we own, but also how it will affect the community,” he explained in an interview with uns.ac.id, Wednesday (14/10/2020).

Four proposals from UNS delegates that passed the selection process are Dimasakin Uti, Go Rattan, Kacang Mete Anggun, and Galaxy Pengetahuan. One of the students who own Go Rattan business, Fitri Icha Masdhita conveyed that she is very happy when her proposal passed national KIBM selection. “Alhamdulillah, Go Rattan passed as one of the proposals that won funding from Dikti. As a founder I am more aware to be responsible for the funding,” she stated.

Go Rattan is a business of Balinese rattan bag run by student of Indonesian Language and Literature Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB) UNS since November 2017. At the beginning of its business, the name of this business was @jegegbali.co, which then rebranded as Go Rattan Bali to make it easier for the consumer to identify the brand. “Our main target markets are reseller and distributor of rattan bag abroad. Most of our clients also come from abroad. The highest demands came from Malaysia, Philippines and Turkey. Marketing was done online through Instagram advertising. So, you guys who want to buy our product can go and check @gorattan.bali’ Instagram account,” Icha added. In the near future, Icha is preparing several projects that got delayed due to Covid-19 and she hopes that next year everything will be back to normal and Go Rattan delayed project can be implemented well.
