UNS— The Dean building of the Faculty of Engineering (FT) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta changed into Ir. RPM Kasifudin Building. The inauguration of this building was attended by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, the Dean of FT UNS, FT Academic Members, FT Academic Staff, the retirees of FT, and the family of the late Ir. RPM Kasifudin on Friday (13/3/2020).
The Dean of FT UNS, Dr. techn. Sholihin As’ad stated that the late Ir. Raden Panji Muhammad (RPM) Kasifudin is the first dean of FT UNS. Besides that, the late Ir. RPM Kasifudin has great merits in UNS development to reach today condition. To pay tribute to his merits, FT UNS perpetuates his name as the Dean Building of FT UNS.
“As the dean, I conveyed my gratitude to the family of Ir. RPM Kasifudin who provided us permission to use his name as the name of the FT UNS Dean Building. I also thank the Rector of UNS who has agreed to this naming (of the building). I do not forget to say thank you to the alumni who have reminded us to use the name of Ir. RPM Kasifudin for FT UNS Dean Building and to the senate of FT UNS who granted permission to give this name,” explained Dr. techn. Sholihin during the inauguration of Ir.RPM Kasifudin Building, Friday (13/3/2020).
Dr.techn. Sholihin added that currently, FT UNS is 44 years old. The journey of FT until today is cannot be separated from Ir. RPM Kasifudin. “Hopefully with this name (it) can remind us of his (Ir. RPM Kasifudin) work spirit at work. Because of his high spirit and he always spread kindness everywhere. Hopefully, we all can look after his spirit,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Rector of UNS Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, in his speech welcomed the FT UNS move to named the Dean Building Ir.RPM Kasifudin. “This is a (way) to reward our founding father. Because with this name (we) can give memory to the students and UNS academic members of who is Ir. RPM Kasifudin,” Prof. Jamal.
Inspired by the Senate of FT, Prof. Jamal will discuss it with the university senate that each faculty can name each building with a name that worth remembering.
“To date, the name of our building is like a kindergarten, 1, 2, 3, or A, B, C. In the future, (faculty) is allowed to if there is a name that wanted to be replaced with the name of a person who is considered meritorious, it is allowed,” stated Prof. Jamal. Humas UNS/Dwi
