UNS – University of Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta hosted Indonesia Young Administrator (Admi) Assembly at G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium, Monday (11/04/2019). This meeting is one of the scientific discussion forums for students of Public/State Administration Science in Indonesia. This event was carried out annually to broaden the public/state administration science and this year, counted 44 universities from various regions, such as University of Indonesia (UI), Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Yogyakarta, Slamet Riyadi University (Unisri) Surakarta, and Tanjungpura University joined in the 2019 Admi Assembly.

By highlighting the headline “Dynamic Governance for Achieving SDGs: The New Image of Indonesian Bureaucratic Reform”, the meeting presented the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo as the main speaker. Ganjar opened his remarks by asking for the image of the Indonesian bureaucracy, especially in Central Java, to the students in attendance.

As the leader of Central Java, Ganjar certainly has bunches of experience in changing the image of bureaucracy in the Central Java Government, as well as digitalizing the system. Moreover, in the real field, Ganjar instructed his staff of Central Java Government to follow up on the reports from the citizens that were collected through social media in the quick, easy, cheap, and complete ways.

“I require the Integrated Services Unit (UPT) to use social media. We link our programs to social media. Then, we also digitize it through the digital signature, barcode, online verification, mobile notification, online archives, dispositions, and letters tracking,” Ganjar explained.

Even though he has made many improvements, Ganjar said that up till now there were cultures of corruption, collusion, and nepotism (KKN) and extortion among the civil servants. Therefore, Ganjar will firmly take action against any civil servant caught in extortion in providing service to the citizens.

“Extortion is a harsh disease. However, we in the Provincial Government of Central Java are initiative to fix it and successfully win the award from Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as the most integrated province with a score of 78.26 in the Integrity Assessment Survey of 26 institutions,” he concluded.
