UNS – The Faculty of Engineering (FT) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held an international guest lecture on Thursday (March 28, 2024). This event invited speakers from Gifu University in Japan. The program was conducted in a hybrid format via Zoom Cloud Meeting and took place in the Main Meeting Room of FT UNS. The lecture was also streamed on the FT UNS YouTube channel.
Dr. Techn. Ir. Sholihin As’ad, M.T., the Dean of FT UNS, expressed his hope in his remarks that the lecture session would provide inspiration for students and the general participants. International guest lectures are also considered a good effort at building collaborations.
Dr. Sholihin mentioned that many lecturers and students from FT UNS are interested in continuing their studies at Gifu University. This is evidenced by the presence of several academic members from FT UNS who have studied at Gifu University at various levels. Additionally, as the Head of FT UNS, he also opened the door wide for academics from Gifu University who wish to come to UNS to collaborate on certain academic schemes.
“There are many opportunities that we can pursue in the future. Therefore, the connection between UNS and Gifu University will be stronger,” Dr. Sholihin said.
The guest lecture session was moderated by Dr. Eng. Pringgo Widyo Laksono, S.T., M.Eng., the Head of the Professional Engineer Program at FT UNS. The speaker and guest lecturer from Gifu University was Prof. Yamada Keisuke. This discussion was titled “Nanomagnetic Materials and Their Application for Developing Spintronic Devices”. Prof. Yamada generously shared his knowledge about studying at Gifu University. He explained the existing programs and information related to academic matters at Gifu University.
In the core event, Prof. Yamada explained about nanomagnetic materials. The topic of this guest lecture was based on Prof. Yamada Keisuke’s own research. He discussed various aspects of Spintronics, classification of magnetism, Magnetic moment of third Transition Metals, Giant Magnetoresistance effect, and so on.
This international guest lecture is hoped to be beneficial for the participants, and it is hoped that more foreign lectures will continue to be held to provide broader knowledge. Humas UNS
