UNS — The International Relations Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, hosted a guest lecture. The event took place in the FISIP UNS Hall Friday (23/9/2022). The International Relations Study Program FISIP UNS invited Vasyl Hamianin, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Indonesia.
The Head of International Relations Study Program FISIP UNS, Ign. Agung Satyawan, Ph.D., said that this activity aims to share information about the current situation in Ukraine. “Hopefully, this event can provide a comprehensive understanding to FISIP students related to the conflict that occurred in Ukraine, especially International Relations students. Moreover, hopefully, students can also understand the diplomacy practice carried out by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Indonesia,” he explained.
Vasyl Hamianin said that the visit of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, became a positive signal from the world community. “The visit made by President Jokowi to Ukraine and Russia was at an opportune time when the situation was uncertain. We really need the support of the international community,” he said during a press conference before the guest lecture started.
He argued that the visit brought two important issues in the war between Russia and Ukraine. “The issue brought forward is world peace and security. President Jokowi became the first Asian leader concerned with the Russian-Ukrainian war crisis. We appreciate the efforts made by President Jokowi,” he added.
Vasyl said that before the visit, he was in intense communication with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. “Ukraine citizens are requested to lower their expectations of the President of Indonesia’s visit because Russia is firm in its stance. Many countries are trying to call Russian President Vladimir Putin directly, but his party still doesn’t listen to anyone,” he concluded. Humas UNS
