UNS — Students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta participated in Team 254 Community Service Program (KKN) in Jajar Village, Kartoharjo District, Magetan Regency conducted a Liquid Organic Fertilizers (LOF) production extension. This program is a form of UNS students’ scientific knowledge implementation and application to the community.
In this work program, students of KKN UNS 254 Jajar Village conducted the extension through a collaboration with the Agricultural Counseling Agency (BPP) of Kartoharjo District and farmers in Jajar Village for a direct LOF production practice.
Member of KKN UNS 254 Jajar Village, Magetan, Maulana Akbar, said that the LOF extension held on Wednesday (3/8/2022) was an answer to the problems faced by farmers in Jajar Village. “The LOF work program is very helpful to farmers because, now, they can make LOF using raw materials that can be obtained in their surrounding environment, at the same time-saving costs incurred to manage rice fields,” Maulana said in his release to uns.ac.id, Tuesday (23/8/2022).
Furthermore, Maulana explained that LOF only needs rice water and rotten fruits as the main materials. Hopefully, after going through various production processes, the fertilizer can be applied effectively, thus, reducing the agricultural production costs borne by farmers. He hopes that this program will reduce the use of chemical fertilizers.
“We hope that the work program in liquid organic fertilizers production can reduce the use of chemical fertilizers that have adverse effects on the soil quality in the long term. We also hope that the program can be useful and can answer the problems experienced by farmers,” he said. Humas UNS
