UNS — Dr. Wiwik Yulianti, M. Hum., a lecturer from the S-2 Linguistics Program at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, responded to FIB’s vision of advancing civilization by sharing her expertise in journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Trunojoyo Madura (UTM).
The event, themed “Upgrading Skills: Public Relations,“ was attended by lecturers and students from UTM’s Faculty of Social Sciences. Dr. Wiwik shared insights with the participants about the intricacies of being a good presenter and copywriter. She, being a practitioner in broadcasting, explained several key aspects that presenters should consider when carrying out their duties. According to her, a presenter plays a central role in the flow of any event.
Dr. Wiwik likened a presenter to a pilot. “As a presenter, you need to understand the plot according to the sequence of events. Being a presenter is like being a pilot in an event, so the success of an event depends on you. It requires thorough preparation and discussion with the event organizers,” she explained during the workshop titled “Public Relations Workshop,” which was held on Thursday (14/09/2023) in the Meeting Room of the UTM’s Faculty of Social Sciences.
This event aims to provide participants with education and training in public relations fields such as copywriting, presenting, journalism, and social media content management. It is hoped that through this activity, participants can acquire hard skills that will enhance their public relations abilities, enabling them to work and fulfill their roles more effectively in both the present and the future.
