Mendiktisaintek Delivers Inspirational Message to New UNS Students

UNS – The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Prof. Brian Yuliarto, Ph.D., delivered an inspiring message to thousands of new students at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta during the 2025 Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) on Tuesday (19/8/2025). Through a video presentation, he encouraged students to become change agents, pioneers of social transformation, and an excellent generation pursuing Golden Indonesia 2045.

Prof. Brian emphasized that higher education must create a real impact on society. He said students should not only complete their studies but also be able to transform knowledge and skills into social and economic contributions. “We want you not only to graduate, but to be individuals of integrity, creativity, adaptability, collaboration, and care for society,” he stated.

He underlined that PKKMB is the first step in the transition from student to independent university learner, one who is ready to contribute and understand academic culture through the Tridharma of Higher Education, namely education, research, and community service. Students must also master digital literacy, technological literacy, human literacy, and 21st-century competencies to face an ever-changing world.

Prof. Brian further reminded students of the importance of national spirit and responsibility as Indonesian youth. He stressed that students are the next generation who will preserve, nurture, and lead the nation toward progress. “Dream big, dare to take steps, and keep creating without end. Be students who make an impact on yourselves, your families, society, and Indonesia,” he conveyed.

With this message, it is expected that the 2025 cohort of UNS students will become outstanding graduates who are globally competitive and capable of providing real solutions to the nation’s challenges.
