Nutri-O-Talk, HMPD UNS Participation in Supporting ISMKI Month of Services

UNS — To support the program of Month of Services program from Indonesian Medical Student Senate Association (Ikatan Senat Mahasiswa Kedokteran Indonesia – ISMKI), Medical Education Student Association (Himpunan Mahasiswa Pendidikan Dokter – HMPD) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held Nutri-O-Talk webinar through Zoom Cloud Meeting.

The Month of Services is a media for ISMKI to gather all medical students in Indonesia to serve the community. This year ‘Improvement of Community Nutrition’ is raised as the program theme. Together with dr. Amelya Augusthina A.S, M.Gizi.Sp.G.K., Nutri-O-Talk Vol. 2 discussed the topic of ‘How your food take care of you now and later?’ on Saturday (19/9/2020).

Opening the discussion, the Faculty member of FK UNS quoted a meaningful Greek proverb “your plate will reflect your personality”. As the primary need of human, food is one of the long-term investments which is usually overlooked by people. On the occasion, dr. Amelya conveyed that six factors influence somebody in selecting their foods. Three of these factors are psychological and economics condition.

The information concerning nutrition science is the main focus of the online seminar, the topic covered in this seminar are, among others, nutritional content in food, how to calculate Body Mass Index (BMI) then diet tips. Currently, the information concerning the diet is accessible to the public. According to Pro Nutrisi Sehat Indonesia (Kinesia) (Indonesia Healthy Pro-Nutrition) Community, the diet program is highly personal. Therefore, various diet methods shared in the seminar need to be well understood by the public. “Diet is highly personal because one person to the other will experience a different effect. Thus, it needs to be preceded by an expert’s examination so that the program can be implemented well,” dr. Amelya stated.

She also reminded participants that the diet program for one person to the other will be different. The success and failure of a diet program depend on the suitability of the human body conditions. Therefore, the diet program should not be implemented carelessly because it might have a bad effect on the body. “For all participants, nutrition and foods we consumed are an investment for our health. Turn these healthy eating habits into a long-term investment. We should avoid getting sick at a young age. Your food is your health,” she reminded the participants.

Previously, on Saturday (12/9/2020) Nutri-O-Talk Vol.1 was held on the topic of ‘Ideal Body amid the Pandemic’ delivered by Wahyu Kurnia Yusin Putra, M.K.M. as a faculty member of Public Health Science Universitas Indonesia (UI) and a member of Indonesian Nutritionist Association (Persatuan Ahli Gizi Indonesia – Persagi).
