UNS –– The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, conveyed his commitment to achieving good university governance during the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UNS and the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) in Ruang Sidang Senat (Senate Meeting Room) II dr. Prakosa Rectorate Building UNS, Friday afternoon (5/3/2021).
In the presence of Ombudsman RI member, Dadan Suparjo Suharmawijaya, S.IP., M.IP and the Head of the Indonesian Ombudsman Representative for Central Java, Siti Farida, S.H., M.H, Prof. Jamal stated that UNS would uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, responsibility, and equity.
“By always considering our bureaucracy, if possible to be accelerated, do not slow down. If possible to be free, do not ask a fee. The philosophy of if one hour is done, don’t take two hours,” Prof. Jamal stated.
Besides as an effort to provide the best public service for the student and the community, Prof. Jamal conveyed that the collaboration with Ombudsman RI is established to implement Kampus Merdeka and Merdeka Belajar programs. He stated that the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) RI program had encouraged UNS to continue building collaboration with the governmental institution, private institution, and Business World and Industrial World (DUDI).
Prof. Jamal added that it is the university’s duty to prepare its graduates through excellent methods and open itself to other sectors, including the government, private, and DUDI, and invite external professionals to participate in UNS development. The Rector also conveyed that the newly signed MoU covers maladministration prevention, community report completion, education, research and study on public services, community services, and Kampus Merdeka development.
Responding to UNS’ warm remark, Dadan Suparjo Suharmawijaya, S.IP., M.IP said that this collaboration would benefit both Ombudsman RI and UNS. he stated that the campus should continue working toward new public service as bureaucrat paradigm in implementing programs and ensuring its success.
“Through this MoU, we hope UNS will contribute in giving values that oversee, especially for us who oversee public services for the benefits of all Indonesian people,” Dadan said.
He added that Ombudsman RI continues to ensure that public services for Indonesian people are optimally delivered because he still observed community members who have not benefited from the government program. “(Even when) it is provided for free, some people still don’t have access. Though it is already free. A new public service paradigm is needed for our bureaucracy,” he concluded. Humas UNS
