UNS — Christian Student Association (Persekutuan Mahasiswa Kristen – PMK) of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (FMIPA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta was concluding its Campsoteria FMIPA UNS 2020 by inviting a drummer from Indonesian Idol, Echa Soemantri, Sunday (22/11/2020).
In the event held online through Zoom Cloud Meeting and offline in GTC (Gamaliel Training Center), Echa Soemantri shared his experience surrounding the keys to become helpful students for social circles, families, and the community. Echa Soemantri stated that university students have a moral responsibility to positively impact their environment because every university student was born with unique talents. “We are not created as an egoistic creature because we have to work together. God does not create us without reason,” Echa Soemantri stated.
He explained that there are three principles that university students need to become helpful individuals. First, each student, without exception, must create a beautiful and specific objective. Second, students need to grow a love for every activity they perform and be willing to be involved. The third, for Christian students, their life has an impact with an intention to learn, create, collaborate, and serve.
Echa Soemantri, who is also a drummer for top singers such as Rosa, Tompi, and the late Glenn Fredly, also shared the challenges and obstacles he found in maintaining these principles during his career in the entertainment world. “There are challenges when we are not fully serving, refusing to live according to the right principles, lazy, avoidant, delaying works, and doubtful,” he continued.
Contacted separately through a short message, a committee member of Campsoteria FMIPA 2020, Clarisa Ivanka, explained that this event was held to welcome new Christian students in UNS. Under the theme of Soul (Salvation Over Ur Limit), PMK FMIPA UNS reminded that new students of FMIPA UNS should always be grateful and continue developing their religious environment. “This event hopes to lead students to comprehend God’s presence in their life and be grateful for His-blessings because they were already accepted as a part of FMIPA UNS,” Clarisa Ivanka stated.
