UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta students carved another achievement on the international scene. On April 9-12, five UNS students successfully won silver medals in the International Youth Business Competition 2022. They are Akhmad Mukhibun (Indonesian Language and Literature Education/FKIP), Damar Sunanil Huda (Mechanical Engineering Education/FKIP), Enna Hasna Ainun Nuurul Ma’ rifah (Physics/FMIPA), Hasna Azzahra (Biology Education/FKIP), and Pradana Ricardo (Indonesian Literature/FIB).
Other than a silver medal, they also received the Malaysia Innovation Invention Creativity Association (MIICA) Special Award. Ricardo Pradaca explains that the idea they are proposing is the GoPule app. “GoPule is a marketplace application to support the bamboo weaving sociopreneur community in Pule Village, Wonogiri Regency,” he explained on Friday (13/5/2022).
This innovation is motivated by the great potential in Pule Village, Wonogiri as a central area for bamboo weaving crafts, producing various crafts such as Senik, Tenggok, Besek, tissue boxes, and many others. “However, the bamboo weaving artisan community is still facing some problems, including management systems and unoptimized marketing techniques. Therefore, this innovation was proposed with a hope to introduce, improve marketing, and preserve bamboo weaving products,” Pradana Ricardo said.
Another member of the team, Akhmad Mukhibun, admitted being thrilled and did not expect to win an international-level competition. Moreover, they also received a special award from Malaysia. “This experience became a great motivation for us to keep on excelling,” Akhmad Mukhibun said.
Meanwhile, Enna Hasna hopes that GoPule can become a ready-to-use application and improving the economy of bamboo weaving craftsmen in Pule Village, Wonogiri. Humas UNS
