UNS — The Vice-Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs, Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Dr. Tri Wiratno officially open the National Seminar on Linguistics and Literature (Semantiks) 2021, on Saturday (5/6/2021). The Semantiks 2021 is an annual event organized by the Master Program in Linguistics FIB UNS. Similar to last year’s event in 2020, the 2021 Semantiks was held virtually through the Zoom Cloud Meeting and was broadcasted live through the UNS Youtube Channel. Taking on a theme of the ‘Prospects of Linguistic Development and Language Policy in the New Norm Era,’ the 2021 Semantiks invites three speakers, namely, Dr. Ganjar Harimansyah Wijaya, M.Hum., Dr. Deli Nirmala, M.Hum., dan Dr. Dwi Purnanto, M.Hum.
Dr. Ganjar Harimansyah Wijaya is an expert in critical discourse analysis, stylistics, and language revitalization from the Balai Bahasa (Language Board) of Jawa Tengah Province. Meanwhile, Dr. Deli Nirmala is a lecturer from the Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) in general linguistics and semantics. The third speaker, Dr. Dwi Purnanto, is an expert in forensic linguistics, sociolinguistics, and pragmatics, who also serves as the Vice-Director of the UNS Postgraduate Program.
Other than the three speakers for the event, also attending the event is the editor for various scientific journals such as Jurnal Linguistik Indonesia, Jurnal Register, Jurnal Prasasti, Jurnal Haluan Sastra Budaya, and Jurnal CMES, which provide the articles to support the implementation of the Semantiks 2021.
The Chairman of the Organizing Committee for Semantiks 2021, Dr. F.X. Sawardi, M.Hum., who also serves as the Head Master of Linguistic Study Program, states that the Semantiks 2021 is a long-awaited event. Even more, Prof. Wiratno also appreciates the implementation of the annual event hosted by the Study Program.
“Hopefully, through this seminar, we can achieve the outcomes while exchanging experiences, research results, and sharing knowledge according to our expertise,” said Prof. Tri Wiratno.
In the future, Prof. Tri Wiratno hopes for the next Semantiks as the annual event for the study program. Humas UNS
