UNS — A stage debut was presented by Teater Djong of Historical Science Program Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta through its official YouTube channel. Their first performance video has been viewed by more than 800 viewers until this news release.
The team established in 2020 chooses ‘Namaku Indonesia’ (my name is Indonesia) script written by Sosiawan Leak—Solo Artist and Alumnus UNS—to be presented on Friday (11/12/2020). Through a short message communication, uns.ac.id had an opportunity to talk with the stage director, Fatony Gifar Putranto.
“Broadly speaking, this script tells the journey of this nation struggles from the monarch era until today, and currently Indonesian no longer fight other nation but fighting its people,” Fatony stated, Sunday (13/12/2020).
This performance presented a scene of people listening to the proclamation broadcasting through radios. A broadcast that made people yell in joy instantly because it marked the start of Indonesia journey as a free nation. This scene was followed by the current condition of a society filled with crimes, thuggery, bullying, and drugs as a great threat to the younger generation.
Through ‘Namaku Indonesia’, Teater Djong wants to invited viewers, especially the young generations, to firmly hold their identity as Indonesian and remembered the struggles of the past heroes to achieve independence. “Not ‘damaging’ this country with crimes, pitting, thuggery, bullying, and drugs,” he added.
This performance’s preparation took more than four months because the team experienced challenges due to the pandemic. Fatony hopes that Teater Djong can continue to exist and works to present performances and build nationalism and patriotism in the young generation. He also hopes that their first performance does not stop as a show and bring moral values that can be implemented in daily life. Humas UNS
