UNS – The Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Outstanding Student Selection has ended. Imam Arifin, a student from Soil Science Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture (FP), and Rizka Lailatul Rohmah from Work Safety Study Program, Vocational School (SV) UNS are named as the first champion of UNS Outstanding Student (Mawapres) 2020 for Undergraduate and Diploma Program. The announcement was made through Zoom Meeting and UNS Youtube Live Streaming on Friday (12/6/2020) at 10.00 WIB. Imam and Rizka will represent UNS at National Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres) starting this month.
The announcement was attended by the Mawapres finalists, representatives of student organizations, as well as invited guests in the UNS campus. Also present during the announcement the Chief of Students and Alumni Bureau UNS, Drs. Rohman Agus Pratomo, and the Vice-Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo.
Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo, in his opening remark, mentions that UNS Pilmapres this year is different from the previous year. “This year, there is a series of Pilmapres activities that involve early semester students. Yesterday, there was Outstanding Student School and today, in this announcement a representative student from each UNS faculty are invited. The objective is to attract superior candidates and motivate students to keep their achievement because achievements and portfolios cannot be obtained instantaneously. Through this step, hopefully, it can bring the best students to be projected in the next year Pilmapres,” he states.
Afterward, UNS will provide assistance for the winner to prepare them for the nearing national level selection. Prof. Kuncoro also appreciates the hard work of the organizer, participants, and the students who present during the UNS Mawapres 2020 announcement.
The 1st Champion of UNS Outstanding Student for Undergraduate degree, Imam Arifin, reveals that he was deeply moved and had never expected to represent UNS at the national level. “I am very touched and grateful to Allah SWT for all the blessing that has been given. Honestly, I never thought that I would get the 1st place. I always remind myself to try my best at every opportunity that exists. Thus, regarding the result, I consider it as a bonus from every struggle that I go through,” reveals Imam.
Similarly, Rizka states, “Alhamdulillah, I still cannot believe that I was selected as the 1st, because there are many others who are better. Regardless of the outcome later, everything is a learning process and also intended for worship,” said Rizka.
The National Outstanding Student Selection will be held through the online and offline system. In the initial stage, each higher education institution must register its representatives at the official website National Achievement Center (Pusat Prestasi Nasional) https//pilmapres.kemdikbud.go.id.
