UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta Alumni Association (IKA UNS) held Wedangan IKA UNS Seri LIII on Wednesday (14/04/2021), broadcasted through Zoom Clouds Meeting and YouTube UNS channel. This IKA is a stage for the Institute of Educational Quality Assurance and Development (LPPMP) UNS to discuss Education Quality Improvement in Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Program to Achieve UNS Excellence.
The discussion on education quality improvement is necessary to achieve the UNS target as World Class University (WCU) in 2022. LPPMP UNS has a significant role in maintaining UNS educational quality through accreditation for all offered programs. Four speakers from LPPMP UNS were invited to this Wedangan Series. Dr. Muhammad Rohmadi M.Hum, Coordinator for SPME NAS LPPMP UNS, Dr. Tri Murwaningsih, M.Si, Chief of PPSP LPPMP UNS, Dr. Anjar S. Ciptorukmini, M.Hum, Coordinator for SPMI LPPMP UNS, and Budi Legowo, M.Si, as Coordinator for MBKM LPPMP UNS.
Prof. Ahmad Yunus, as Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, represented the Rector of UNS to open the discussion. Prof. Yunus shared the importance of LPPMP’s role in maintaining the program’s accreditation and at the national and international levels. Currently, 56% of all programs in UNS are accredited with A or around 104 out of 179 programs. At the Undergraduate level, 85% of the programs are accredited with A. The Chief of LPPMP UNS, Prof. Sarwiji Suwandi, added that he and his team are preparing several programs to be accredited by ASIIN, FIBAA, and IABEE, international accreditation.
“Hopefully, this year, there are thirteen programs that received international accreditation,” he said.
In 2020, eleven programs received international accreditation.
Educational Quality Improvement Challenges in Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Era
Besides preparing programs to achieve international accreditation, LPPMP also collaborates with several institutions, such as Kemenhub, RS. Dr. Moewardi, and other Indonesian Universities as an effort to implement Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program. The national program promoted by the Minister of Education of Culture (Mendikbud) Nadiem Makarim demands students participate in a one-semester internship. It was challenging for UNS to build partnerships as a place for its students to learn from the business world.
“Now, 120 UNS students are participating in the Kampus Mengajar program in districts and cities all over Indonesia,” Budi Legowo said. Kampus Mengajar Program, held by Kemendikbud, is joined by students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education and other faculties.
LPPMP UNS also reviews curriculum based on the instruments provided by the related program. This review aims to improve the quality assurance of the learning process. The institute also has an e-book program that will program 250 books into e-books this year. LPPMP UNS also held quality assurance training for teachers through Pekerti AA Training.
