UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta conducted a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Asosiasi Asuransi Umum Indonesia (AAUI) (Indonesian General Insurance Association) through online media on Wednesday (7/4/2021). UNS was represented by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Sajidan, M.Si. as the Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS, while M. Sufyan, S.T., AAUI Solo Chairman, represented AAUI.
The ceremony will be followed by collaboration in general insurance education, student internship, and professional certification for general insurance. Prof. Sajidan explained that UNS pursue the collaboration after considering the rapid development of the general insurance business in Indonesia and public awareness to protect their assets. This awareness shows that the public has considered risks in various life aspects and their mitigation. Insurance is a form of these mitigations.
“The demand for loss insurance is increasing and will be followed by the need for professional employees in the insurance field. Therefore, UNS student has the opportunity to participate in an internship program in several insurance firms in Solo in line with the Kampus Merdeka – Merdeka Belajar program,” Prof. Sajidan explained.
The study programs in UNS that have prepared to collaborate with AAUI are Development Economics, Management, Mathematics, Law, and Statistics.
“UNS and AAUI will prepare curriculum for education and training of certification for insurance experts,” Prof. Sajidan added.
The ceremony was also completed with a general lecture from AAUI on Insurance Goes to Campus, for the first time delivered by Dody Dalimunthe as the Director Executive of AAUI. The event was attended by students from UNS, UMS, and Unnes and discussed the job opportunity and the current insurance position. Humas UNS
