UNS – The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a webinar in ‘Kampus Merdeka’. The webinar was held on (23/6/2020) through Zoom Meeting, discussing the Six Months Internship Program in Governmental Institution, SOE, and Private companies. Three speakers from the related sector were invited to the webinar, namely Fatkhul Kamil Tumbriyantoro from the Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF) Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu), Dewi Kurnia Salwa, M.Psi., the Vice President Human Capital PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia, and Eny Rahma Zaenah, M.M. as the CEO of PT Tiga Serangkai. Also presented during the webinar, the Dean of FEB UNS, Prof. Djoko Suhardjanto, who delivers an opening remark for the webinar.
At the end of January, the Minister of Education and Culture, Nadiem Makarim, issued the Permendikbud No. 3 of 2020 regarding the National Standard of Higher Education, which stipulates ‘Merdeka Belajar’ and ‘Kampus Merdeka’ program. Prof. Djoko mentioned that there are several new regulations in the Permendikbud. “Here in the Minister Regulation, students have the right to join the lectures for 5 semesters within the study program and 3 semesters outside the study program,” he reviewed.
Fatkhul Kamil from BKF explains that each year, BKF always gives opportunities to the society and students to learn the fiscal policymaking process in BKF. “Interns will be placed in accordance with the proposed theme, also provided an employee mentor who will guide students. During the program, interns will be involved in office work such as data searching, issues gathering, and reporting method to other staff. Knowledge sharing will be held for once or twice a week by inviting skilled employees in accordance with BKF duties,” he explains.
The Vice President Human Capital PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia, Dewi Kurnia Salwa, also mentioned that a student internship is a form of synergy and support to the Regulation of the Minister of Manpower No. 36 Tahun 2016. “With this internship program, we hope that students can receive insight enrichment on the skills that can create superior human resources to the face of global competition. We can also understand the calibration of curriculum and syllabus received by students compared to the industry needs,” she explains.
Pertamina has several models of an internship program, one of them is the six months internship program intended for students who have graduated from university. This internship is conducted for a long period of time, where every day the interns will work directly or hands-on with the job. Then, the second is practical work designed for students who have not yet graduated.
Meanwhile, in private sector, CEO PT Tiga Serangkai, Eny Rahma, strongly supports the ‘Kampus Merdeka’ program. In 2020, PT Tiga Serangkai has various collaboration, which marked with memorandum of understandings with universities. “We have MoU and MoA related with ‘Kampus Merdeka’ program, among others with UNS, Akademi Seni dan Desain Indonesia, Politeknik Negeri Jakarta, and Politeknik Media Kreatif,” she revealed.
