UNS — Wedangan Ikatan Keluarga Alumni (IKA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta was held on Wednesday (14/10/2020). On this occasion, the alumni of the Faculty of Sports (FKOR) UNS were invited to discuss ‘Healthy Community through Sports towards Developed Indonesia’. The event was held virtually through Zoom Clouds Meeting and opened directly by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho.
Opening the awareness on continuous exercise, the Director of Doctoral Program UNS, Prof. M. Furqon Hidayatullah explained FKOR UNS slogan ‘Long-life Learner & Exerciser’. This slogan aims to motivate academic members in FKOR UNS to be a long-life learner who can maintain their health. ‘Long-life Learner’ is interpreted as an effort to keep learning despite one’s age and achievement or position they achieved in life. According to Prof. Furqon, this spirit will always be relevant in the current situation with rapid changes and development. The spirit should also be supported by the spirit of ‘Long-life Exercise’ to maintain one’s health.
Drs. H. Yudi Sutoyo, M.M as the next speaker delivered material on the pattern of national athlete training. On this occasion, Yudi stated that in the future government is expected to provide more attention for potential athletes. Three actions can be implemented gradually, continuously, and following the existing stages through involving the public, raising athlete, and training of athletes. To involve the public can be started from school and introduce the program to students. Followed by raising athlete through the inter-school competition to look for potential athletes to be trained at the national level.
According to his experience as the Head of Sports and Young Department (Disorda) DKI Jakarta, these stages have been implemented and brought results. The achievements obtained by DKI Jakarta Province are winning three national-level competitions, National Student Sports Week (Pekan Olahraga Pelajar Nasional – POPNAS), National University Student Sports Week (Pekan Olahraga Mahasiswa Nasional – POMNAS) and National Sports Week (Pekan Olahraga Nasional – PON). “Talented athletes will be successful when they have professional coach,” Yudi added. Besides, he also added that the supports of facilities and opportunities to compete periodically to increase an athlete’s experience.
Supporting, Yudi’s argument on the importance of appropriate coaching for national athletes, Dr. Rony Syaifullah as national athlete and coach of pencak silat conveyed that supports from various parties are important in the development of sports in Indonesia. In this occasion, Rony also shared the contributions of FKOR UNS students and alumni for Indonesia, especially in pencak silat during ASIAN GAMES 2018. At the time, he served as the coach for Indonesian pencak silat contingent who won 14 gold medals for the beloved country. “People who are brave, disciplined, serious, and selfless are those who will be a success and reach elite level. With their talent and full efforts, they are successful in their attempts,” Rony stated.
The event was led by Febriani Fajar E., M.Or., Ph.D as moderator and was attended by the Chairman of IKA UNS, Dr. Budi Harto, M.M., Dean of FKOR, Dr. Sapta Kunta Purnama M.Pd., Brigjen TNI Drs, Moch. Amin, M.M as Kabinda Kalimantan Timur and Kol. Kes. Dr. Yulianto Hadi, M.M who currently serves as the Headmaster of SMA Pradita Dirgantara. Humas UNS
