UNS – Raised the “Covid-19 Awareness” theme, ASEAN Digital Art Society (Asedas) held the Asedas 2020 International Virtual Digital Art Exhibition. This exhibition is opened by Pustanto as the Chief of Indonesia National Gallery (Galeri Nasional Indonesia) on 6 June 2020 through Asedas YouTube channel on Asedas official website.
On the occasion, two faculty members of Visual Communication Design (DKV) Diploma program (D3) School of Vocation (SV) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, I Gusti Ngurah Tri Marutama and Hermansyah Muttaqin successfully passed the selection to join the exhibition.
Asedas is established in April 2020 from the initiative of two countries, Indonesia represented by Dr. Ariesa Pandanwangi from Universitas Kristen Maranatha Indonesia and Assoc. Prof. Ahmad Tarmizi Arizan from Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) Malaysia.
Asedas 2020 International Virtual Digital Art Exhibition is the first virtual exhibition that raised the Covid-19 theme. In its implementation, the organizing committee invites partners from not only Indonesia and Malaysia but also several universities from various countries and media from Mexico.
There were 524 works from 34 countries that participate in the exhibition. Some of these countries are Iran, Israel, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Singapura, Japan, South Korea, Argentina, Azerbaijan, China, Mexico, Netherlands, Palestine, Poland, Russia, Turkey, and others. The works displayed will pass the multi-layered and multi-countries judging process. The panel of juries that participate in this event come from Malaysia, Indonesia, Mexico, China, and Japan. While the curators that involved are Nuning Damayanti (Indonesia), Tarmizi (Malaysia), and Ms. Sabina Obeholzer (Sweden).
The works that passed the selection process will be displayed on Asedas website. Two faculty members of D3 DKV Program SV UNS send two works, each entitled “Stay at Home to Save the World” from I Gusti Ngurah Tri Marutama and “Work & Study #FromHome” from Hermansyah Muttaqin.
In the written note, I Gusti Ngurah Tri Marutama work entitled Stay at Home to Save the World aims to communicate the message and invitation to stay at home and prevent the outbreak from spreading. As for the work from Herman Muttaqin aims to communicate the suggestion to perform activities at home during the pandemic, both working and learning.
