UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta appreciates the achievements of the Student Creativity Program (PKM) teams at the National Student Scientific Week (Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional, or PIMNAS) in 2023. On this occasion, two UNS PKM teams each secured a medal. The results were announced on Friday (1/12/23) at Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad), Bandung.
The gold medal was awarded to the UNS PKM Social Humanities Research (RSH) team in the poster category. This team consisted of Adinda Putri Sholikhah, Anisya Salsabila Ainun Nur Azizah, and Abadina Ukhtisiwi from the Faculty of Psychology; Lia Kurniawati from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB); and Annisa Alya Sofiani from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP).
The team was guided by Rini Setyowati, M.Psi., Psikolog., a lecturer from the Faculty of Psychology at UNS. They conducted research titled “Traditional Game Benthik as a Cooperative Play Modification for Overcoming Sibling Rivalry in Children in Bojonegoro Regency.”
Subsequently, the bronze medal was achieved by the PKM Exact Research (RE) team in the poster category. This team included Putri Lestari and Alief Almasyah Akbar Mastura from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), and Azza Arba Nurul Ummah from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP).
The team was guided by Prof. Dr. Eng. Hendri Widiyandari, S.Si. M.Si., a professor from FMIPA UNS. They conducted research titled “Green Synthesis of Carbon Quantum Dots (CQDs) from Spoiled Soy Milk with ZnO for the Photodegradation of Malachite Green Textile Dyes.”
Iwan Wisnu Anggono, S.S., M.Si., the Head of the UNS Academic and Student Affairs Bureau, stated that the achievement of one gold medal and one bronze medal is highly appreciated by the university. This achievement is an improvement from the previous year, when UNS won one silver medal. According to him, the students’ dedication and the contributions of the supervising lecturers are key factors in UNS’s delegation achievement at the 36th PIMNAS.
“This year we got one gold and one bronze; it’s an achievement that we need to appreciate, both to the supervising lecturers and the students’ dedication,” Iwan Wisnu said on Monday (4/12/2023).
For the UNS PKM teams that didn’t secure medals in this edition of PIMNAS, Iwan advised them not to be disheartened. The university acknowledges the hard work of the students and the supervising lecturers of all teams who enthusiastically participate in PKM every year. Iwan added that students and lecturers should be ready for the next PKM edition. Their preparation will be accompanied by UNS’s commitment in terms of funding and support for PKM teams.
“The university’s commitment is that, starting next year, we will be more serious in terms of funding and team support. To improve performance, which, of course, must be better than this year,” he concluded.
UNS initially conducted internal selection for 1,339 PKM proposals in 2023. These proposals were then filtered down to around 600 proposals that proceeded to the next stage of selection. From these, 101 teams successfully obtained funding. They then went through the PKM proposal evaluation and PKM Implementation Progress Assessment (PKP2) stages, resulting in 17 teams being selected to participate in PIMNAS.
In the 36th PIMNAS edition of 2023, these 17 teams consisted of one Entrepreneurship PKM team, one Community Service PKM team, one Application of Science and Technology PKM team, two Social Humanities Research PKM teams, and the majority were twelve Exact Research PKM teams. Humas UNS
