UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta became one of five universities appointed directly by the President to create a national electric car (Molina) in 2012. After 3 years of development, UNS demonstrated its specialty in the field of lithium batteries and is now able to produce with a target of 1000 batteries per day. Up to now, UNS is still the only one campus that manufactures lithium batteries in Indonesia.
Smart UNS in which the lithium batteries are intended by Agus Purwanto and UNS Chemical Engineering Lecturer has two types, namely LFP 18650 and NCA 18650 with a voltage of 3.2 volts and 3.7 volts, and a capacity of 1400 mAH and 2700 mAH. The Smart UNS Manufacturing is located at the UNS Business Development Center (Pusbangnis), Slamet Riyadi street, Surakarta.
Using LFP technology, this battery has high security because it does not cause an explosion in the short circuit event. In addition to being rechargeable and economical, this battery has a long service life of up to 3000 usage cycles and is longer than current commercial products (500 cycles) and is able to withstand high temperatures up to 70°C.
The production process used does not produce waste that is harmful to the surrounding environment and during the production process is facilitated with standard equipment. This product can be applied to electric cars, electric bicycles, general street lighting (JPU), notebook PCs, toys, UPS, and powerbank. Smart UNS has collaborated with Pertamina, the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti), and the Education Fund Management Agency (LPDP). humas-red.uns/Ath/Dty
