UNS — A remarkable achievement was secured by Bambang Sutrisno, a student of the Doctoral Program in Economics at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Surakarta, in the seventh edition of “Ma Thèse en 180 secondes” (MT 180) or “My Thesis in 180 Seconds”, organized by the Institut français Indonésie (IFI), the cultural and educational branch of the French Embassy in Indonesia.

Bambang Sutrisno, who is specializing in Financial Management within the UNS Doctoral Program, is currently completing his dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., as the main advisor, along with co-advisors Taufiq Arifin, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., Ak., and Tastaftiyan Risfandy, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D. Bambang is also a lecturer at Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta.

Participants in the competition included doctoral students from Indonesia pursuing their studies either domestically or abroad, as well as recent graduates from 2022 or 2023. In the final round held on September 27, 2024, six finalists presented their dissertations in French, each limited to 180 seconds. The finalists hail from various prestigious institutions, including Griffith University in Australia, INSA Lyon in France, Université de Limoges in France, INSA Centre Val De Loire in France, and UNS in Indonesia.

For his outstanding performance, Bambang Sutrisno received a prize of 2.000 euros, equivalent to approximately IDR 34 million.

UNS Rector, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., expressed his appreciation for Bambang’s success. “UNS students can compete with peers from leading international universities. I hope this achievement will inspire other students,” Prof. Hartono said on Friday (18/10/2024).
