UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a virtual concert entitled “Senandung Rindu Kentingan (Kentingan Nostalgia Songs)’ Saturday night (25/7/2020), broadcasted live in UNS Youtube account and Zoom. This virtual concert was held as a manifestation of the longing feeling of the UNS academic members for the Kentingan campus, which has long been quiet from the hustle and bustle of campus activities, since the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in March 2020.
Led by Tiarasita, Dr. Soepriyatno, and Pangsit Timlo ex-member, the concert was attended by the University Leaders, University Senate, Dean/Director in the UNS Institute, Member of the UNS Trustees Board, and the UNS Supervisory Board. Also present during the concert as guests of honor are Dr. (Hc) Hadi Tjahjanto, TNI Commander who is also the Chairperson of the UNS Trustees Council, Ir. Budi Harto, who currently serves as IKA UNS Chair and Director of PT. Hutama Karya, Prof. Poppy, Attache for Education and Culture (Atdikbud) the Republic of Indonesia Embassy in the US, and Dr. Apollo as the Rector of Universitas Cendrawasih (Uncen) Papua.
Infront of the guest, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho cites a poem on his longing for the UNS campus, which is like the shade of trees along with the Solo River flow. “If ‘Bengawan Solo’ is a song to remember the legendary river in Solo, then my admiration was due to the might of the water flowing afar, and the shade of trees along the river’s curves, it feels fair if tonight we hum the elegy of longing while counting beautiful memories in the corner of Kentingan campus, I was stunned for a moment, I was silent, I was proud to be a part of your UNS, I still remember you UNS,” Prof. Jamal Wiwoho cited.
On this occasion, the Chair of IKA UNS, Ir. Budi Harto, also address the University leaders and invited guests in attendance. To him, this virtual concert became a platform for UNS academicians to strengthen the relationship in amid of the Covid-19 pandemic. “Thus, we can build the glory of UNS as our shared pride. Thank you, the Honorable UNS Rector, for holding this event. Let’s enjoy together,” Ir. Budi Harto adds.
For this event, Prof. Jamal joining the festive by contributing his golden voice by singing the song “Bengawan Solo” created by the Indonesian Keroncong maestro, Gesang. In addition, the Student Choir (PSM) Voca Erudita who has traveled the international scene does not want to miss the show. Presenting “Gundul-Gundul Pacul”, PSM Voca Erudita successfully hypnotized hundreds of spectators.
Thereare many other songs presented during the Virtual Concert “Senandung Rindu Kentingan”, such as Mawar Biru, Bahana Pancasila, Tanah Air, and UNS Keroncong as a creation of the late Prof. Kunardi Hardjoprawiro. Humas UNS
