UNS – To celebrate the 44th Anniversary, the Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, held an Open Senate Meeting on Wednesday (11/3/2020) in G.P.H Haryo Mataram Auditorium. The event was attended by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia (Wapres RI), Prof. Dr. K.H. Ma’ruf Amin together with wife Hj. Wuri Estu Handayani, the Minister of Health (Menkes) Letjen (Purn) TNI dr. Terawan Agus Putranto, the Vice Governor of Jawa Tengah, H. Taj Yasin Maimoen, the Board of Trustees and the Supervisory Board of UNS, the Rectors as the member of the Council of Rector of Indonesia State University (CRISU), civil and military officials, all Senate members, all Faculty and unit leaders, as well as all academicians, Dharma Wanita, Retired UNS staff, and students representative.
The event was started with singing the Indonesia Raya, followed by UNS Mars. On this occasion, the Decision of UNS Rector on UNS Award 2020 presented to K.H Ma’aruf Amin, entitled “Parasamya Anugraha Dharma Krida Upa Baksana” for his achievement in developing Sharia economy and finance.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho mentioned the program suggested by Nadiem Makarim as the Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud).
“When Nadiem Makarim is formulating the ‘Merdeka Belajar’ and ‘Kampus Merdeka’ program, we already set a work pillar in (our) Renstra (Rencana Strategik-Strategic Planning), which finally we adopt as the theme for today Anniversary Celebration entitle the Acceleration of 4.0 Learning Reorientation to Increase National Competitiveness,” said Prof. Jamal.
One of the work programs implemented to support the program is known as the ‘UNS Mengajar Indonesia’ event.
“As a mark for the spirit of transformation, since February (during the KKN deployment) and its peak on March 10th, the academicians of UNS carried out the ‘UNS Mengajar’ activity, which involves more than 3,300 lecturers and alumni who directly teach in various schools in all around Indonesia including the schools for TKI (Indonesian Migrant Workers) in oil palm plantation in Sabah and Sarawak, Malaysia,” Prof. Jamal explained.
Further, Prof. Ma’aruf Amin delivers a remark on the 44th UNS Anniversary. Prof. Ma’aruf Amin emphasized on the importance of excellent Human Resource (HR).
“On various occasions, I always mentioned that excellent HR is a healthy, smart, highly productive HR, productive in creating something useful and benefited other, competitive, love the country, have noble morals and moral behavior. Therefore, through the celebration of this Anniversary, I hope that UNS can be an agent in preparing the excellent HR,” said Prof. Ma’aruf.
In the occasion, an award is presented to 11 excellent alumni from various faculties in UNS, namely the Faculty of Humanities (FIB), Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD), Faculty of Social and Political Study (FISIP), Faculty of Law (FH), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Faculty of Medicine (FK), Faculty of Agriculture (FP), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (FMIPA), and Faculty of Sports (FKOR).
The event is enlivened with a percussion performance by the Dharma Wanita Persatuan UNS, by performing ‘Gambang Suling’ song. Humas UNS/Zalfaa
