UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a ceremony to commemorate the 2023 National Education Day. The ceremony took place in the courtyard of dr. Prakosa building UNS, Tuesday (2/5/2023). The UNS extended family and Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) UNS joined this momentum.
The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum. was the ceremony supervisor. On this occasion, he delivered a speech from the Indonesian Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek), Nadiem Anwar Makarim.
In his remarks at the 2023 National Education Day commemoration ceremony, Nadiem Makarim said that there have been major changes that have occurred around us in the last three years. The 24 episodes of Merdeka Belajar that have been launched have brought Indonesia closer to the noble ideals of Ki Hadjar Dewantara.
This ideal is an education that guides the interests, talents, and potential of students so that they are able to achieve the highest level of safety and happiness as human beings and as members of society.
Particularly at the tertiary level, changes started at the time of admission selection, which focused on measuring literacy and critical thinking abilities. Students who used to only study theory in class can now travel the world in search of knowledge and experience outside the campus with the presence of various Kampus Merdeka programs.
“This massive transformation should be celebrated with gratitude and liveliness, because everything is the result of our hard work and collaboration,” Nadiem said, who was conveyed by Prof. Jamal.
This year’s National Education Day is the right time for all of us to reflect on every challenge we have faced and every brave step that has been taken.
Nadiem also advised that the journey must continue. This is for the sake of the nation’s children, to feel true independence in learning and aspiring. Humas UNS
