UNS – The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho conducts a partnership signatory with the Madiun Bupati, which represented by the Wakil Bupati (Deputy of Regency Head) of Madiun, H. Hari Wuryanto, in Ruang Sidang 1, dr. Prakosa UNS Rectory Building, Wednesday (5/02/2020). This signatory is related to the establishment of the new UNS campus in Caruban, Madiun.
The Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho said that the establishment of the new UNS campus is located on a 34,714 square-meter and is planned for the Study Programs Outside the Main Campus (Program Studi Diluar Kampus Utama-PSDKU), which located Pandean Village, Caruban, Madiun.
Prof. Jamal appreciates the Madiun Bupati and is grateful for the opportunity to build the new UNS campus in Caruban, Madiun. Actually, since 2013 there are three UNS study programs in Madiun namely Diploma 2 in Information Technology, Agriculture Product, and Mechanical Engineering. Currently, these study programs have 500 graduates of vocational education and currently still have 150 students.
According to the Regulation of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Ristekdikti) No. 1 of 2017, it was instructed that starting in 2020 the study programs in other locations (Program Study Diluar Domisili – PDD) should be converted into PSDKU. “Once more, I hope that this partnership will not end as a signatory with the Bupati, it should be realized and implemented. Moreover, I am certain that the establishment of the UNS campus in Madiun will improve the prosperity of the Human Resources in Madiun as well as the regional welfare,” Prof. Jamal said.
Further, Wakil Bupati Madiun, H. Heri Wuryanto wished that the establishment of the UNS Campus in Madiun will be realized soon. “Hopefully, this year the permit will be issued and new student admission can be open immediately. We wish for the support from UNS in order to prepare for superior human resources in Madiun. It is our hope (Madiun people) and the Bupati of Madiun to have a higher education institution in Madiun. Therefore, the society does not have to go far away to UNS Surakarta, but to Caruban,” said Heri.
On March 11 there will be a ceremony for laying the first stone in the construction of the UNS campus gate in Madiun. “We hope that the permission from the Central Minister of Education can be issued immediately, thus on the new semester in 2020 we can open for new students admission in UNS Madiun,” he concluded.
