UNS – Professor of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta garnered recognition as the Most Inspirational Woman award in the Perminesia Contest at the 9th Scientific Meeting of the Asia Pacific Menopause Federation (APMF) held on Saturday (7/10/2023) at the Stone Hotel, Bali. The esteemed professor is Prof. Dr. Sri Sulistyowati, dr., Sp.OG(K), a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine (FK) UNS.
The event was organized to appreciate and celebrate the extraordinary achievements of female healthcare professionals over 40 years of age who continue to be productive in their work and maintain a healthy lifestyle following Perminesia guidelines. The contest aimed to provide motivation for staying productive and healthy as they approach menopause.
Prof. Dr. Sri Sulistyowati, dr., Sp.OG(K), who also serves as the Chair of the UNS Academic Senate, explained that the event was attended by participants from both Indonesia and abroad. All participants were evaluated based on various criteria, including physical health assessment, inspiration and contributions, work productivity, health and lifestyle, innovation and excellence, and positive influence.
“Most women over 40, on average approaching 50 years old and entering menopause, experience a decrease in their activities due to various health issues. This event is here to inspire women of that age,” Prof. Sulis said.
Prof. Sulis added that daily activities were also part of the evaluation criteria. “Coincidentally, what I submitted for the contest yesterday was my exercise activities. My hobby is tennis, and I have won several tennis competitions in the older age category. Additionally, of course, my contributions as a doctor involve serving patients and teaching students,” Prof. Sulis added.
She also emphasized that Indonesian women should stay motivated, maintain their health, get sufficient rest, and follow a balanced diet. The key is to surrender and enjoy what they have, continue to contribute, and enhance their service to others in their profession. HUMAS UNS
