UNS Rankings Based on THE WUR by Subject 2026

UNS — Entering 2026, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta recorded outstanding achievements in global university rankings. Based on the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR) by Subject 2026, UNS achieved rankings in several subject categories.

UNS successfully ranked first nationally in the categories of Arts and Humanities, Law, and Physical Sciences.

In the Arts and Humanities category, UNS became one of the best universities in Indonesia alongside Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Universitas Indonesia (UI). UNS ranked first nationally and 401–500 globally, reflecting its academic excellence and global reputation in the field of Arts and Humanities.

In the Business and Economics category, UNS ranked second nationally and 601–800 globally. This achievement reflects the continuous development of academic excellence in Business and Economics.

In the Medical and Health category, UNS ranked third nationally and 801–1000 globally, showing its strength in the field of Medicine and Health.

For Computer Science, UNS ranked third nationally and 1001+ globally. In Education Studies, UNS achieved second place nationally and ranked 301–400 globally. Meanwhile, in Engineering, UNS ranked second nationally and 1001–1250 globally.

In the Law category, UNS ranked first nationally together with UGM and placed 201–250 globally. In Life Sciences, UNS ranked fourth nationally and 1001+ globally.

Meanwhile, in Physical Sciences, UNS ranked first nationally alongside Universitas Syiah Kuala and placed 801–1000 globally. In Social Sciences, UNS ranked second nationally and 601–800 globally.

Responding to this achievement, UNS Rector Prof. Dr. Hartono expressed his pride in the accomplishment. According to him, this achievement is the result of the hard work of the entire academic community in improving learning quality, conducting relevant research, and expanding international networks. “This ranking is not just about numbers, but also a reflection of UNS’s commitment to providing quality education with a broad impact,” said Prof. Hartono on Wednesday (21/1/2026).

The Rector also emphasized that the results of THE WUR by Subject 2026 will serve as motivation for UNS to continue strengthening excellence in other study programs. This includes improving research quality, expanding global collaboration, and supporting academic innovation that is relevant to today’s challenges.

Through this global achievement, UNS remains committed to continuously developing academic quality and research that can compete internationally while creating real impact for society, the nation, and the country.
