UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) has achieved a notable milestone on the international stage. Based on the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2026 released on April 23, 2026, UNS is ranked in the 351–400 bracket among the best universities in Asia. At the national level, UNS has secured its position as the second-best university in Indonesia, alongside Institut Teknologi Bandung and Universitas Gadjah Mada, and just below Universitas Indonesia.
This achievement marks a significant improvement from the previous year, when UNS was placed in the 401–500 bracket in Asia and ranked third nationally. The progress reflects the collective effort, consistency, and strong commitment of the entire UNS academic community in enhancing globally competitive higher education quality.
In this ranking, UNS demonstrated solid performance with an overall score ranging from 36.4 to 38.2. The achievement is supported by key indicators, including Teaching (29.9), Research Environment (28.8), Research Quality (47.3), Industry (51.0), and International Outlook (41.1).
Notably, in the Research Quality indicator, UNS achieved the highest score in Indonesia at 47.3. This highlights the strength and global impact of UNS Research, measured through citation impact, research strength, research excellence, and research influence. It reinforces UNS’s position as an institution that is not only productive in research but also highly relevant and impactful in advancing knowledge.
Rector Hartono emphasized that this achievement is the result of synergy and dedication across the university. The contributions of lecturers in producing high-quality research, along with the strategic role of educational staff in supporting systems and services, have been crucial foundations for this success.
“This achievement is not merely about numbers, but a concrete step toward becoming a World Class University. It reflects our collective spirit to grow, create impact, and elevate UNS on the global stage,” he stated.
UNS also expressed its appreciation to all members of its community, alumni, and partners who have contributed to this journey. The achievement is expected to serve as new momentum to continue advancing, strengthening reputation, and delivering innovations that benefit society.
