UNS — A student from Management Program Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Farah Primanita, is selected and Rupiah and QRIS Ambassador 2020 from GenBI category. After winning the election event, Farah, stated that she wants to bridge the communication between Bank Indonesia (BI) and the community to ensure that the community well comprehend the policies taken by BI.
“The mission of Rupiah and QRIS Ambassador 2020 refers to BI. The mission of BI is always surrounding the monetary policies, therefore, all activities concerning that policy become my mission. And my role is more towards a communicator,” Farah stated, Tuesday (10/11/2020).
When contacted by uns.ac.id, Farah hopes that the community take more role besides understanding BI policies and actively participated in studying and discussing it so that they can predict the impact of these policies in the future. As Rupiah Ambassador, she stated that she needs to look into two ways in communicating a policy. “Not only looking into the policy but also studying and discuss the policies with the community members,” she added.
The event that Farah participated in was held by Representative Office (Kantor Perwakilan – KPw) BI Surakarta. Two years ago, the event was dubbed as Rupiah Ambassador which involved the commercial banks and Rural Banks (Bank Perkreditan Rakyat – BPR). However, this year, KPw BI Kota Surakarta opened an opportunity for students who received BI scholarship in GenBI to participate in the competition.
Farah who is also the Outstanding Student (Mahasiswa Berprestasi – Mawapres) FEB UNS shared that her journey to win Rupiah and QRIS Ambassador 2020 is very long. She needs to enrich her knowledge of BI, Rupiah, and QRIS. She also joined a mentoring provided by GenBI. However, Farah also has to compete with her friends in GenBI from UNS, Universitas Slamet Riyadi (Unisri) Surakarta, and Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Surakarta.
“All awardees were gathered, from UNS 50 students, from Unisri and IAIN 25 students, and went through written selection, in theory, multiple-choice question, and practical examinations on how to differentiate real and fake money. Then followed by a presentation on QRIS and the characteristics of real Rupiah money to the best 10. And on Saturday (24/10/2020) was elected as Rupiah and QRIS Ambassador 2020,” she stated.
