UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta student won the 2nd place in Communication Culture Festival Intitut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Ponorogo (State Islamic Institute of Ponorogo). The UNS students won in Videography Competition and Mascot Design.
On the competitions, two students that represented UNS are Aldi Dwi Saputra and Bhian Cahya Wisudawan Rubiyanto. They are students in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNS. Supervised by Dr. Kundharu Saddhono, M.Hum., they admitted that they want to implement their knowledge and fill free time with beneficial activities.
“I often participated in the competition, besides killing my time, (it is) also to implement the knowledge I got from acting as Indonesian Language and Literature Education Students Association (Himprobsi) FKIP UNS management for three periods. (I) started from staff for media communication to the Chief of media communication to the General Chairman. I did not win all the competitions I participated in, maybe around 1 out of 10. That’s why there is a saying, if you failed, try again! If you lose, rise again! Because every loss is a delayed victory,” Aldi explained when contacted by uns.ac.id team on Friday (12/3/2021).
Unlike other competitions held during the pandemic that assume online mechanisms, this competition was held in a combination of online-offline events. The online contest was held through @hmjkpiiainpo Instagram account, while the offline competition was held during a webinar and awarding session in FUAD IAIN Ponorogo Hall on 20 February 2020.
As the Chairman of Himprobsi, Aldi emphasized that participating in student association will not disturb university student’s learning process. Student’s participation usually adds positive skills they cannot learn in class. “I want to prove that participating in student association does not disturb the learning process but instead add experience, relation, hones skills, and support academic and non-academic achievements,” he explained.
Their video title is Eksistensi Pasar Tradisional di Kota Solo (The Existence of Traditional Markets in Solo) which discussed Solo people shopping activities in the traditional market amid the proliferation of online shopping. The traditional market still retains its existence in Solo, proved by the number of active traditional markets that reached 38 markets. The video was prepared in one week before it is ready to be submitted.
Aldi stated that he is grateful for his victories in one event and hopes that in the future, this victory will pave the way to better achievements in 2021. Humas UNS
