UNS – One of the working cultures of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta is entrepreneurship. To establish the culture, it necessary to have students who work in the field of entrepreneurship. One of which is Syifa Khusnul Khotimah, a student of Historical Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNS. She runs a business with hundreds of millions of rupiahs of monthly sales.
The student who went by call name Syifa sells healthy beverages from lemon extract under the Lemonih brand. The product is offered through social media such as Instagram, Facebook, and Shopee. This brand was initiated in June 2019. Syifa feels that today, there are a large number of people who are aware of their health, that is why she innovates with a health-related beverage product made from lemon. Lemon is selected because of its wide range of benefits for both body and skin health.
With entrepreneurship, Syifa provides job opportunities for her friends. Currently, six people are working part-time for her all are her friends in the historical education program.
Syifa experienced both interesting and hard times in running her business. During the developmental stage, Syifa experienced difficulty in finding a good supplier for fruits at affordable prices, therefore she went to the market at midnight to find fruit suppliers with such criteria. However, to date, Syifa stated that the profit she gained is stable and she never experienced loss.
“Becoming an entrepreneur has a positive side. If we work as an employee, we will wait for a salary once a month, but as an entrepreneur, we have something, people pay directly, so get the money on the same day. Then, do not bother about capital, the technology is advanced, what you need is the will, then you can run the business,” said Syifa to uns.ac.id, Tuesday (28/1/2020).
Syifa wishes that the young will not be scared to start a business. A strong will to start is enough to start it, besides hard and smart work to start an entrepreneurship. Humas UNS/Zalfaa
