UNS – Students from various faculties in Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta had taken an online thesis examination. This was conducted to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
In the State Administration Science Study Program of the Faculty of Social Science and Political Study (FISIP) UNS, an online thesis examination can be conducted smoothly on Wednesday (1/4/2020). Fajar Sang Sinatra, a student of the State Administration Science Study Program has successfully presented his thesis in the front of the examiners that consist of Rino Ardhian Nugroho, Ph.D., Dr. Asal Wahyuni Erlin Mulyadi, and Sudaryanti, M.Si.
“The thesis was presented and defended by the student of the State Administration Science Study Program on behalf of Fajar Sang Sinatra entitled ‘The Effect of Working Environment, Compensation, and Work Motivation on Work Discipline of PDAM Surakarta Employees’,” explained the FISIP UNS PR staff, Maryani.
Maryani added that the online thesis examination is in line with the Dean Circular Number 1232 /UN27.05/KP/2020. This circular regulates the implementation of an online thesis examination as an effort responding to the preparedness and precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, which currently becomes a world pandemic. Through the implementation of this online thesis examination in the State Administration Science Study Program, FISIP UNS, it is expected to encourage the students from other study programs to be able to finish their thesis in the midst of early precaution measures, preparedness and anticipatory activity to prevent the spread COVID-19, and can speed-up their study period in FISIP UNS.
Meanwhile, in the Architectural Engineering Study Program, the Faculty of Engineering (FT) UNS also has implemented an online thesis examination for 5 students on the 1st and 2nd of April. The Final Project Studio Coordinator in the Architectural Engineering Study Program FT UNS, Dr. Yosafat Winarto mentions that FT will carry out an online thesis examination or final project examination.
“The Architectural Engineering Study Program already implement it on April 1st and 2nd, 2020. A thesis examination for 5 students is conducted online and all the examinees were passed,” said Yosafat to uns.ac.id, Sunday (5/4/2020).
The students who participated in the online thesis examination in Architectural Engineering Study Program FT UNS are Respati Arsy, Lalu Rizki, Elsya Rizkia, Muthia Nur Faizah, and Muhammad Ghalfadi Alizanda.
Meanwhile, one of the examiners from the Architectural Engineering Study Program online thesis examination, Dr. Eng. Kusumaningdyah Nurul Handayani said that the overall online thesis examination is going well. By turns, the examiners deliver questions on the material tested to the students. “Certainly, this is something new for everyone. We hope that the COVID-19 outbreak will be finished soon, thus a direct thesis examination can be implemented again,” said Dr. Eng. Kusumaningdyah Nurul.
One of the Architectural Engineering Study Program FT UNS students from the class of 2015, Respati Arsy mentioned that he is grateful that their online thesis examination went well. Taking on a thesis entitled ‘Redesign of UNS Students’ Housing’ Arsy has successfully defended his thesis in front of the examiners. “Through this online thesis examination, it can actually reduce nervousness.
