UNS Student Win the First Position in Sumpah Pemuda Poster Design Competition

UNS — A student from the Visual Communication Design (DKV) Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Hendy Andi Wicahyo, won the first position in National Sumpah Pemuda (Youth’s Pledge) Poster Competition held by BEM Faculty of Economics Universitas Katolik Darma Cendika Surabaya, Saturday (31/10/2020).

This achievement proves UNS student’s ability in competing amid the Covid-19 pandemic and conclude October with sweet achievement. In a competition under the theme of “Gaungkan Persatuan, Suarakan Kebhinekaan” (Echoing Unity, Speaking of Diversity) held on 25 September-25 October, Andy was interested to participate after got the information from the Instagram. In his poster, he depicted diversity in the form of people with different professions and backgrounds who sit in the same table. When contacted by uns.ac.id on Saturday (31/10/2020), Andy conveyed that his poster was inspired by people around him who have their own vision but can live together.

“The inspiration is from my surrounding environment because many young people have different hobbies and dreams, but they can live in harmony, interacting well, and show that there are no differences between one another,” Andy stated.

He added that in his poster, Indonesia’s youth should achieve unity to build the country into a more developed and better nation, without paying attention to the differences, be it dreams, ideals, and expectations. When asked how long the time he needed to finish the poster, he stated that he took 3 days to finish his design. This included the time he used to brainstorm ideas, researching, preparing sketch, and finishing the design. With his achievement, Andy reminded that in the Commemoration of 92nd Sumpah Pemuda, Indonesia’s Youth can contribute to the development of the nation.

“For the young generation of Indonesia who is thriving to achieve your dreams, let us together build this nation with the spirit of unity and oneness regardless of what our dreams and aspirations are,” Andy concluded. Humas UNS
