UNS — Astonishing news arrives from the creative sector in Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, as one of its students won the Favorite Category in a creative video competition. The competition was organized by Tagar.id in collaboration with Telkomsel. Garnering 365 participants from all across Indonesia, the competition announced Agus Setiyabudi (Civil Engineering Study Program) from the Faculty of Engineering (FT) UNS, as the winner in the Favorite category.
“When announced during the Sumpah Pemuda Day, I was shocked for winning the Favorite category,” Agus admitted on Sunday (24/1/2021). He added that he did not expect to defeat hundreds of participants from any region in Indonesia.
Through the designated theme ‘Sumpah Pemuda, Me for One Indonesia’, Agus found a concept for his video creation, which related to the current youth condition. “Following the theme requirement, I got an idea to create a video about unemployed youth. The said person spent his time playing games, surfing social media, and the lack of social interaction with the surrounding environment. When in fact, there are many positive activities they can do, which expected by the community,” he explained.
This concept was inspired by the current condition, whereas the young generation interacts extensively in social media. These interactions, however, is not followed by real actions to create something both for themselves and for society in general. In his video creation, Agus deliver a message for his fellow students. “Do not become a young generation who have a great dream without the courage to make it happen, because the communities do not need an excellent GPA, but a real movement from a young man,” he concluded.
