UNS — Become a university student is a special challenge for an individual. Students are often recognized as the agent of change. These statements were made by Daffa Maulana Muhammad, a student of the Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture (FP), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. He was succeeded in being the main accommodator in Youth Agriculture Leaders Training (YAL), Student Management Skill Training (LKMM), organized by the Student Executive Board Association of Indonesia Agriculture Program Students (IBEMPI).
The National LKMM is part of the regeneration agenda for the IBEMPI organization leadership. Since last January 2021, the agenda is planned in Universitas Bengkulu (Unib). The National LKMM Agenda is ratified by the Unib through the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Agustin Zarkani, S.P. M.Si., Ph.D.
The LKMM IBEMPI is an annual agenda. However, this year the agenda must be conducted virtually due to the ongoing Covid-19. “Many are complaining about the pandemic situation because it hinders the normal activities, while several universities are still adjusting to the new system and the limited condition. Therefore, the virtual agenda become the solution for the National LKMM by IBEMPI, especially for the safety of the universities delegates,” Daffa reveals to the uns.ac.id team.
According to Daffa, the twists and turns of this agenda took quite some time, starting from the online agenda scheduling, curriculum preparation, then time adjustment between FP Unib and IBEMPI. Finally, after the long preparation, the event was held from Friday to Monday (9-11/4/2021). In total, there are 84 representatives participating in LKMM from numerous universities in Indonesia.
Daffa hopes LKMM IBEMPI can be a learning place that can encourage the students in the agricultural study programs in Indonesia. “Hopefully, this event can encourage students and be a transitioning stage for the future generations with a different career such as farmers, Bulog staff, or politicians,” Daffa wishes.
