UNS Will Open Undergraduate Program in Mandarin Language and Chinese Culture

UNS — Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta devised a plan to open a new Undergraduate Program in Mandarin Language and Chinese Culture. The Dean of FIB UNS, Prof. Dr. Warto, M.Hum., shared this plan in Wedangan IKA UNS Seri 54 on Wednesday (21/4/2021). “FIB with a support from the university (UNS) and Xihua University will open an Undergraduate Program in Mandarin Language and Chinese Culture,” Prof. Warto said.

The program is inspired by the Diploma Program (D3) in the Mandarin Language success, which once a part of FIB UNS before shifted into UNS Vocational School. Xihua University’s support also encourages FIB to open this new undergraduate program.

Since 2018, FIB UNS has collaborated with the Faculty of Literature and Journalism, Xihua University, China. This collaboration provides support in the form of teaching resources from Xihua University, China as native speakers teacher for UNS students. The partnership is strengthened by establishing the Center for Mandarin Language UNS that collaborates with Confucius Institute, an international Mandarin Language training institute under the Chinese International Education Foundation headquartered in Beijing, China.

The Undergraduate Program in Mandarin Language and Chinese Culture is expected to strengthen the cultural collaboration between Indonesia and China. “Hopefully, this (study program) becomes a good means to build stronger collaboration with China and other countries,” Dean of FIB UNS concluded.

Currently, FIB is taking all necessary efforts to prepare the new study program, and hopefully, everything will run well so that the program can be opened soon. Humas UNS
